A Lipp spiral silo is formed from a steel strip wound in a continuous spiral, so the wall is one piece with a single helical seam instead of many bolted panels. That makes it stiff, sealed and quick to raise on site for cement, powders, granules, liquid and gas across chemical, food and wastewater plants.

The silo starts as a coil of steel strip fed through a forming machine at the job site. The machine bends and locks the strip into a rising spiral, building the wall upward in one continuous run. Because there is no panel-to-panel bolting, the shell has fewer weak points and a tighter seal than a bolted tank of the same size.

The wall alone is not the whole story. A steel frame is welded to the silo to carry the live and dead loads: the weight of the stored material plus wind, rain and temperature swing. That reinforcement is what gives the silo its high static stability, so it stays put in open-yard and coastal sites where a light shell would shift.
Why a single spiral wall matters
One continuous strip means one helical seam instead of hundreds of bolted joints. Fewer joints means fewer paths for leak and fatigue, which is why the silo stays impermeable and low-maintenance through its service life.
Media can be solid, liquid or gaseous. Cement, fly ash, grain, sludge, process water and even gas all fit the same spiral build, with the strip grade and lining chosen for the product. Food, chemical and wastewater sites use it because the wall seals clean and resists the duty.
| Parameter | Range |
|---|---|
| Diameter | Continuously variable from 3 to 50 m |
| Height | Continuously variable from 2 to 35 m |
| Volume | From 40 to 15,000 m3 |
| Media | Solid, liquid or gaseous |
| Exterior colour | Free choice by RAL |
| Advantage | What it means on site |
|---|---|
| High static stability | Welded frame carries material weight and weather load. |
| Corrosion-resistant | Strip grade picked for the media, long outdoor life. |
| Long life | One-piece wall, few joints to fail. |
| Completely impermeable | Single helical seam, no through-wall leaks. |
| Substrate-flexible | Strip material matched to the stored product. |
| Automated on-site production | Machine forms the wall where the silo stands. |
| Low assembly and investment cost | Less labour and fewer parts than bolted or cast builds. |
| Minimal installation space | Built in place, no large laydown yard needed. |
| Low maintenance cost | Sealed, corrosion-resistant wall needs little care. |
Each silo is set to the material and the site. If the duty changes, the next silo or a modification can shift diameter, height or lining to match, so the storage keeps pace with the plant instead of boxing it in.

Diameter from 3 to 50 m, height 2 to 35 m, volume 40 to 15,000 m3, all set to the site rather than a fixed range.
The strip is wound into one continuous wall with a single helical seam, and a welded steel frame carries wind, rain and temperature load.
Solid, liquid or gaseous media, from cement and powders to process water and gas, with the strip grade picked for the product.
No. The corrosion-resistant wall and few joints keep upkeep low, and on-site spiral forming cuts both build space and investment.
Yes. The build is customized to the material and can be modified as the storage duty changes, so the silo follows the plant.
Send the material, target volume and site condition. We return a diameter and height plan, strip grade and a delivered quote.
